Hassler's Highlander Highlights: Week 6!

The Fall season rolls on and so do the Highlander Highlights…

Boys Tennis had a big week as they defeated Berkley and Lake Orion on Monday and Tuesday to go undefeated in regular season play and to secure the number 1 seed for the OAA White tournament.

On Thursday, the team answered the call as the number 1 seed and brought home the OAA White League title. They took 1st place by a mere 2 points, 58-56, over crosstown rival Rochester.

Boys Soccer had a huge win on Tuesday against Clarkston, the 5th ranked team in Division 1. The Highlanders had goals from Merrick Devlin and Carson Collins. John Coon recorded the shut-out in goal.

The Girls Golf team had a great showing at the Oakland County Tournament on Wednesday at Twin Lakes Golf Club. The team finished 3rd overall and placed 2 golfers, Laura Liu (tied for 4th) and Alyssa Fodale (tied for 10th) on the medal stand.

Friday saw the Highlanders Varsity Football travel to North Farmington.

Coach Tony Patritto talked about playing with passion and with love for your teammate. This was evident and needed as the Highlanders fell behind in the 4th quarter 21-14.

The team did not quit though and a key fumble caused by Tait Picot and recovered by Alex DeGrieck led to an 8-yard Joey Shallow touchdown run. The game was one for the nerves as the North Farmington Raiders got within field goal range with 11 seconds left. Griffin Henke saved the day with his second blocked field goal and the game would head to overtime.

Parker Picot scored his 2nd touchdown of the game with a sneak from 1 foot out to put the team ahead 28-21. The defense would not disappoint as they stood tall and stopped the Raiders on 4th and 5 to preserve the win and earn the team a playoff berth.

Boys Tennis brings home OAA White League Championship!

Top 10 Finishers from Girls Golf Oakland County D1 Championship. Laura Liu finished 4th with a 74, Alyssa Fodale finished 10th with a 79.
