Hassler's Highlander Highlights: Week 2!

Week 2 saw some more strong performances from our Highlander Student-Athletes.
On Monday, Boys Tennis swept West Bloomfield 8-1. The team was back in action on Tuesday where they defeated Port Huron Northern but fell to the top ranked Blackhawks from Bloomfield Hills. One highlight of the day was Ethan Eliassen and Cooper Yakima, Adams #1 doubles team beating their counterparts from Bloomfield.
Wednesday featured two soccer games against the Utica Chieftains and two football games against Oxford for our Freshmen & JV teams.
The JV soccer boys opened with a 2-1 victory against Utica. In the nightcap, the Varsity scored 3 goals in the 2nd half to win 3-0. Goals were scored by Christian Peretz, Merrick Devlin and Connor Patritto.
The Freshmen football team lost a nail-biter 14-13 against Oxford while the JV team had a resounding 48-6 win.
Thursday was a day for girls golf, volleyball and cross country.
Girls Golf competed at the Patriot Cup at the Fortress in Frankenmuth. The team finished 4th with top finishes from Alyssa Fodale in 4th and her sister Katie Fodale in 9th.
Volleyball went 3-0 in their home quad against Sterling Heights, Avondale and Walled Lake Central.
The Cross Country program competed in the Budd Cicciarelli invite at one of our local gems, Bloomer Park. Both the boys and the girls teams finished 1st. The top finisher for the boys was Zach Mazzuchi (2nd place) and for the girls Amanda Soldan (3rd).
Friday was the first home game for the Highlanders Varsity Football team. It was a packed stadium as the Highlanders faced off against the Wildcats.
Oxford scored first with a 46 yard field goal but it was all Highlanders after that. Scores by Marco Dicresce, Parker Picot and Griffin Henke opened up the game. Colin Timko added a 30 yard FG to finish the scoring.
The Highlanders defeated the Wildcats 24-10 and move to 2-0 on the season.
