Rochester Police officers handled 356 calls for service, and responded to 9 traffic accidents.
Driver Arrested: Ran Stop Sign, Had Expired Plates and Suspended License!
Rochester, MI - May 9, 2023 - At approximately 2:15am, a Rochester Officer was on patrol in the area of Walnut and
Second when they observed the vehicle in front of them fail to stop at the stop sign at Second and
Walnut. The vehicle then turned on to W Second without using their turn signal.
The officer also observed the vehicle to have an expired plate. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The
officer spoke with the driver, a 29-year-old from Redford, and it was discovered the driver was
suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to RPD where they were later released
with a citation.
Drunk Rochester Resident Hits Curb, Runs Stop Light!
Rochester, MI - May 13, 2023 - At approximately 12:40pm, a Rochester Officer was performing stationary radar in
the area of Main St and Olde Towne when they observed a vehicle travelling northbound that hit the
curb. The officer followed the vehicle as it turned onto Romeo Road. The vehicle did not stop for the red
light, nor did it use their turn signal. The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the
driver, a 68 year-old Rochester resident.
During the traffic stop, the officer observed signs of impairment and the driver admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages. The officer conducted field sobriety
evaluations which the driver did not pass. The driver was offered a PBT (Preliminary Breath Test) sample, which yielded a result of
0.16 BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration). The driver was placed under arrest and transported to RPD where they were offered a
chemical breath test. The breath test resulted in a BAC of 0.16. The driver was lodged until sober and released with a citation pending a court date.
Driver Arrested: Fails Sobriety Tests, had Bag of Cocaine and Unmarked Pill Bottles!
Rochester, MI - May 17, 2023 - A Rochester Officer was on patrol in the area on Main and University when they
observed a vehicle made an abrupt stop at the red light. Once the light turned green, the vehicle
continued northbound it began to drive between the curb lane and inside lane. The officer conducted a
traffic stop and made contact with the driver, a 26-year-old from Rochester.
The driver initially stated he was on his phone, however the officer observed signs of impairment. During the traffic stop the driver
was retrieving his license, when the officer observed a suspected bag of cocaine. The driver admitted
the white powder was cocaine. The driver also admitted to taking Oxycodone approximately one and
half hours prior. The officer also located 2 unmarked pill bottles in the vehicle. The driver performed
SFSTs (Standardized Field Sobriety Tests) but did not pass. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to RPD. The officer
requested the subject take a chemical blood test which he agreed. A blood search warrant was sought,
and the blood was obtained by hospital staff. The driver was lodged until sober and released pending
the results.
