The OPC 2023 Summer Soiree - An Evening in the Garden!
Rochester, MI: - The OPC’s Summer Soiree for Meals on Wheels returns to the picturesque stone cottage gardens at 650 Letica Drive on June 23 from 6:30-10pm. The Soiree celebrates and supports the organization’s long-standing mission of providing hot, nutritious meals to vulnerable, homebound seniors. It’s also a celebration of the community partners and champions whose support and commitment are so vital to the service.
Guests at the signature event will enjoy the day’s long and leisurely descent into evening, sipping on champagne, enjoying delectable hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert catered by Kruse & Muer, and an open bar. Setting the mood will be the Jarrod Champion Quartet, combining classy crooner vibes with a hip, modern twist. Jazz standards, soul classics, along with pop and R&B favorites will have everyone hitting the dance floor. The evening will also feature special entertainment and fabulous raffle prizes.
2023 marks a momentous year for the OPC, as the organization celebrates its 40th anniversary as an independent organization serving seniors in Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township. The creation of such a unique and dynamic organization was a testament to the will and resolve of many in the community, and the Soiree will celebrate these efforts. Marye Miller, Executive Director Emerita, and a driving influence in the formation of the OPC, will be an honoree. Her efforts on behalf of seniors established the OPC’s progressive approach to active and healthy aging, which the organization continues to champion today.
Meals on Wheels is one of the OPC’s core supportive services, and is available to seniors, 60+ who are unable to shop for or prepare their own meals. It’s a critical tool in reducing hunger in our community, and homebound meals are delivered 5 days a week. In 2022 alone, the OPC prepared over 100,000 nutritionally balanced meals. More than just a meal, the service also provides a critical wellness check, and in many instances, is the only regular social contact a senior may enjoy on a daily basis. There is no income requirement to receive meals, and the OPC is typically able to provide a meal within 48 hours of request, with no waiting list.
The evening is not to be missed, and is made possible through the tremendous partnerships the OPC enjoys throughout the community.
