ROCHESTER, MI, May 9, 2023 - After years of planning and development, the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is excited to debut The Front Porch Project! The goal is to create a new community gathering and event space in Downtown Rochester, as well elevating the existing Farmers' Market experience. The concept is the result of input from two Community Visioning Sessions held in 2016 and 2021 by the Rochester DDA. The desires to enhance the Farmers' Market and to have additional spaces downtown to gather were top requests by the attendees at both sessions. The proposed site is the existing Farmers’ Market Lot at the corner of Third & Water Street.

The DDA is inviting the community to learn more about The Front Porch Project and to offer input at two Community Input Sessions on Wednesday, May 31 and Monday, June 5. Both sessions will be held from 7-9 pm at the Rochester Community House, 816 Ludlow.

“We've weathered much since 2016 when this endeavor began”, stated Ben Giovanelli, DDA Chairperson. “Many challenges and hurdles remain, but now that we have favorable tailwinds on this project, it's time to re-engage you, our partners, to show you what we're thinking and get your feedback on ways to make it even more awesome”.
