Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast to feature Ronnie “Mack” and Janet McAdoo
Jan 9, 2023, Rochester, MI - The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast
Committee announced that Old Dominion University basketball greats Ronnie “Mack”
McAdoo and Janet McAdoo will keynote the 42nd annual event on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from
7:00am to 9:00am at Oakland University Athletics Center O'Rena.
Best known for leading their respective Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) basketball teams
to post season play, Ronnie ‘Mack’ McAdoo’s biggest life accomplishment is as Founder and
Director of 1Died4All Basketball.
1Died4All Basketball started in the McAdoo’s backyard after God gave Mack a vision of how to
use the game of basketball as a platform to reach kids in and around their Norfolk
neighborhood. 1Died4All uses sports to reach kids that might never walk through the doors of a
church, but they will come to a sports camp. At the camp, they hear the transforming gospel of
Jesus Christ. The McAdoo’s teach that your past does not dictate your future. Since 2016, Mack
and Janet have been traveling all over the world using the platform of sports to introduce the
gospel.
Pat McCarty, the 2023 Prayer Breakfast committee chair, originally met Janet McAdoo when
they taught together at Norfolk Christian School in Virginia. “I saw Janet’s love for her students
and witnessed her passion to serve the Lord.” Mack and Janet are prayer warriors who were
humbled by the invitation to share their life story at the Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast.
The McAdoo’s have been married for more than 30 years and have two adult children, Kelsey
McAdoo and James Michael McAdoo. Kelsey played for UNC Charlotte and James played for
UNC Chapel Hill, he’s also a two-time NBA Champion with the Golden State Warriors, currently
playing in Tokyo, Japan with the Sun Rockers Shibuya. Mack and Janet have two amazing
grandkids, Mason James and Sawyer Ray that they love spending time with.
The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast is an annual, non-denominational event held in
recognition of the National Day of Prayer, instituted in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress
and then President Harry S. Truman.
