Rochester Police Department Summary for December 16, 2022 through January 6, 2023

Rochester Police officers handled 722 calls for service, and responded to 17 traffic accidents.


30-year Old Arrested for Drunk Driving

Rochester, MI - December 18, 2022 - At approximately 2:25am, a Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of Walnut and W University when he observed a silver Chevy Trax fail to come to a complete stop at the stop sign. The officer followed the vehicle on westbound W University as it swerved into the eastbound lane. The officer also indicated the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, a 30-year-old from Sterling Heights. While speaking with the driver, the officer observed signs of impairment. The driver also admitted to having a glass of wine. The officer conducted field sobriety evaluations, which the driver did not pass. The driver was offered a PBT (Preliminary Breath Test) which yielded a result of 0.15 BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration). The driver was arrested and transported to RPD for a chemical test and processing. The driver was offered a Chemical test which yielded a resulted in a BAC of 0.17. The driver was lodged until sober and given a citation pending a later court date.


Officers Track Down Driver Who Left Crash Scene!

Rochester, MI - December 23, 2022 - A Rochester officer was dispatched to the area of Main and University for a hit and run traffic accident. The caller advised they were rear ended by a black Jeep that continued northbound on Main St. The caller also advised they had followed the vehicle on Main St to the area of Rochester and Tienken.

The officer responded to the area and spoke with caller. The caller provided the officer with photos of the responsible vehicle and a description of the driver. The officer located the unoccupied vehicle nearby. Officers checked the address on responsible drivers license and made contact with the subject. The responsible driver was issued a handful of citations and a crash report number was provided as well.
