Sheriff Bouchard and Red Wing Alumni Among Special Guests Scheduled for Inaugural 42 Strong Hockey Classic
Oakland County, MI – Dec 16, 2022 – Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard will
drop the ceremonial first puck and several members of the Detroit Red Wings Alumni
Association are expected to participate in the inaugural 42 Strong Hockey Classic.
The hockey game is set for Dec. 29, 2022 at the Detroit Skating Club and benefits “42 Strong – the
Tate Myre Foundation.” Doors open at 6 p.m. and puck drop is 7:30 p.m. The club is located at
888 Denison Court in Bloomfield Township. Admission to the game is $5.
The foundation was created in memory of Tate Myre, one of four Oxford High School students
who perished in a Nov. 30, 2021, shooting. Tate loved to mentor younger people and the goal of
the foundation is to prevent young people from falling through the cracks. A peer-to-peer
mentoring program connects students to create a better future and develop a greater sense of
purpose, community, and resilience, according to 42strongtate.org.
Participants in the Inaugural 42 Strong Hockey Classic!
“It is always inspiring to watch individuals impacted by a horrific tragedy turn that pain into
helping others,” Bouchard said. “I am honored to participate in an event that not only honors
Tate and his legacy but will assist others going forward.”
The evening features Team 42 Strong versus Team Wolverine in a hockey game. Teams are
comprised of former professional and college players including current University of Michigan
varsity hockey player Johnny Druskinis as well as recreational players from the community. The
names of the Red Wing Alumni players participating will be announced in the coming days.
A VIP dinner is scheduled before the game. More information is available by contacting Trent
