Event: Holiday Tea in the Farmhouse

We’re opening the doors of the farmhouse to host an exclusive Holiday Tea. You sip it, we’ll spill it! Guests get the chance to hear local stories and see artifacts and documents normally stored safely away in the collections room all while enjoying the ambiance of the 1840s Van Hoosen Farmhouse decorated for Christmas. This unique opportunity is limited to 12 people. Tea and a light snack will be served.

Join us for a holiday twist! The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm is open for drop in hours on select dates this winter from 12pm to 3pm, with a Guided Tour of the Van Hoosen Farmhouse at 1pm. We’ll have the 1840 Van Hoosen Farmhouse beautifully decorated with boughs of holly, old Christmas cards, family gifts, community cookbooks, and a 10 foot Christmas tree in the library. You’ll also find our seasonal interactive “All Aboard: Model Railroad Exhibit!” on display in the Calf Barn. Come and share your afternoon with us on our National Registered Historic Site!
Included with your admission is a guided tour of the Van Hoosen Farmhouse, access to all exhibits, self-guided tours of the Bull Barn, Milk House, Equipment Barn, and Children’s Garden, as well as the nearby Stoney Creek Cemetery. Please arrive early if you plan to take the guided tour, as there is limited capacity.
Event: All Aboard! Model Railroad Exhibit presented by the Stoney Creek Model Railroad Club

The Stoney Creek Model Railroad Club has been planning this model train exhibit for one year and cannot wait to share it with the public. The Calf Barn will be filled with modules that have been painstakingly built in scale and show locations near and far. A scavenger hunt through the exhibit adds to the fun! This wonderfully detailed exhibit, All Aboard! Model Railroad Exhibit is a perfect family outing during the holiday season.
*Please be advised that 12/3 is our Visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus event. Pre-registration and a special fee is required for this event.
**Please be advised that 12/17 is our Old Fashioned Christmas event and there will be an increased entry fee for all visitors on this day. Fee includes trains as well as all of the other activities site-wide on this special day.

Santa and Mrs. Claus have, once again, set aside this day to visit the children of our community at the Museum! Enjoy a farm wagon ride to the 1840s Van Hoosen Farmhouse, where you’ll find Santa nestled by the fireplace and a tasty treat in the kitchen. Don’t forget to bring your Christmas list and your camera to take a photo!

Event: Candlelight Walking Tours

Time: 6pm to 9pm; Hour long time slots
Location: Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm
Cost: $8 Museum Members; $10 Non-Members

Spread across the Museum grounds, guests will visit historical vignettes, observe historic campfire cooking, listen to Acapella Christmas carols, and explore the decorated 1840s Van Hoosen Farmhouse. This guided tour is an hour long. Please dress in layers, as stations are both inside and outside.

Join us for old-fashioned holiday fun! Guests can visit the All Aboard! Model Train display that will fill the Calf Barn. Farm wagons transport guests to all Museum buildings for musical entertainment, crafts, snacks, theatre groups, live music, and even chestnuts roasting over an open fire!
