Meadow Brook Theatre to Hold Auditions for Children in "A Christmas Carol"
Auditions are September 10th on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester, MI
Rochester's favorite holiday tradition, A Christmas Carol returns to Meadow Brook Theatre for its 40 Year Anniversary! Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and a handful of ghosts will once again grace the streets of London to deliver a message of unity and giving.
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, original adaptation and staging by Charles Nolte, will run at Meadow Brook Theatre on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester from November 18 through December 24, 2022, with school matinees beginning Tuesday November 15th.
Each year, children from across southeast Michigan have the opportunity to join the MBT stage in this annual holiday classic.
"Though A Christmas Carol is our largest cast of the season, featuring 17 professional actors..." explains Travis Walter, MBT’s artistic director. "...it is the 20 local children who add the true spirit of Christmas, making it Southeast Michigan's one-of-a-kind, must-see, production."

Auditions will be held at the theatre in Wilson Hall, on the campus of Oakland University, on Saturday, September 10th. Fully vaccinated children (ages 5-13) who will not have reached their 14th birthday before October 25th (1st day of rehearsal) may audition.
Children interested in auditioning should arrive at the lobby of the theatre starting at 9am to sign-in. They will be reading from the script onstage in groups. No prepared pieces, singing, or dancing will be required at this audition. While it is not necessary, bring a copy of your resume if you have one. Please bring a photo that you do not need returned. It need not be a professional headshot; a school picture is fine.
Rehearsals for A Christmas Carol will be after school and on weekends with Monday as a day off. Performances, with many school day matinees, begin November 15 and end December 24. Each child’s role will be double-cast with each actor scheduled for half of the 49 performances.
Children in the cast will be paid a small stipend. For more information, you may call 248-370-3308.
