Spectacular Weekend of Events Brings Thousands to Downtown Rochester!

ROCHESTER, MI July 18, 2022 - Those from inside and outside the local Rochester Community converged on Downtown Rochester the weekend of July 14th through the 17th for a fun-filled slate of events that left everyone smiling!

"Nothing says summer in Downtown Rochester quite like Sidewalk Sales! We're bringing them back for it's 67th year!" said Kristi Trevarrow, Executive Director of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Sidewalk Sales, presented by Chief Financial Credit Union, ran Thursday, July 14th through Saturday July 16th. Merchants on both sides of Rochester Road, and some side streets, aligned their sidewalks with tents filled with unique items and summer deals. Patrons kept the restaurants busy in between shopping the tent bargains.

Downtown Rochester's Sidewalk Sale weekend is a Chief favorite," said Ashley Chambers, Chief Financial Credit Union Director of Business Development. "Our team loves to meet the community and share our passion for being a part of the Rochester area! We enjoyed meeting new residents while offering fun experiences along with a few prizes!"

There was fun across the age spectrum. Kids enjoyed a daily craft from 12pm to 3pm in front of City Tavern (423 Main). On Friday night, residents got their movin’ and groovin’ on in the return of Dancin’ in the Street! Dancin’ in the Street took place on W. Fourth Street from 6pm to 10pm. Crowds enjoyed the live music of The SquarePegz along with a TasteFest from local Rochester eateries!

Back again this year was the Rochester Explorers Club. The Explorers Club invites kids of all ages to get outdoors and explore everything that our community has to offer through an amazing array of adventures. Kids picked up their free Explorers Club Kit during Sidewalk Sales at the Downtown Collaboration Studio located at 431 Main Street. Then they proceeded to explore various merchants offering clues to complete their exploration adventure.

Colleen Fox and Lauren Brezinksi, both of Troy, MI, brought their families to downtown Rochester to particpate in the weekend activities. "We wanted our kids to have an engaging and fun Saturday afternoon, Downtown Rochester was the perfect pick." shared Colleen.

Lauren said, "The kids are having a great time stopping at all the local stores in downtown Rochester, it's been a real highlight!"
