Driver with Narcotic Paraphernalia Runs Stop Sign

Rochester, MI - June 23, 2022 - At approximately 8:15pm, Rochester officer was monitoring the stop signs at the intersection of Romeo and Sycamore per an extra patrol request made by a resident. Officer observed a vehicle driving east on Romeo, run the stop sign on Romeo at Sycamore.

Officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver who was identified as a 22-year old Rochester resident. Officer could smell a very strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. Officer asked the driver step out of the vehicle to perform various standardized field sobriety tasks for an OUID investigation. No arrest was warranted at that time. A subsequent consent search of the vehicle revealed a bag of marijuana on the passenger's seat, a jar of marijuana in the back seat and a rubber bong (green, yellow and red in color) in the center console. Officer issued the driver a citation for disobeying a stop sign, no proof of insurance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.


Drunk Driver Arrested after Running Red Light

Rochester, MI - June 24, 2022 - At approximately 1:55am Rochester officer was traveling westbound on Parkdale approaching Letica. Officer observed a vehicle swerving to the left with the driver side tires crossing over the solid double yellow lane marking. The traffic light was already a solid red prior to even approaching the intersection.

The vehicle slowed down momentarily, appeared to check the intersection for on coming traffic, then blatantly ran the red light. Officer effected a traffic stop and investigated the driver, identified as a 38-year old Rochester resident. While speaking with the driver, officer could smell a strong odor of intoxicants emitting from inside the vehicle. Officer requested the driver to exit the vehicle for sobriety evaluations. He failed them and was requested to take a PBT which he refused. He was arrested for the offense of OWI, taken to the Rochester Police Department where he was given a breathalyzer. The result was, .13 and .13%. He was processed and held until sober. Ticket written for OWI.
