Rochester Police officers handled 704 calls for service, and responded to 12 traffic crashes.


Driver Arrested After Fleeing Police!

Rochester, MI - May 30, 2022 - At approximately 2am, a Rochester officer was performing selective enforcement in the area of W University and Wesley. The Rochester officer observed a purple vehicle traveling eastbound on W University at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle however the vehicle turned onto S Main. The officer turned onto S Main and the vehicle attempted to flee the officer.

The officer gave pursuit towards Avon and Rochester. The suspect's vehicle then turned around in a parking lot at Rochester and Avon and began traveling northbound on Rochester towards Downtown Rochester. Officer gave pursuit to the vehicle but lost sight of it in the area of First and Castell. A bystander who witnessed the initial chase observed the same vehicle driving in the area near Walnut and Third. The bystander notified Rochester Police of the vehicle and Rochester Officers were able to locate the vehicle. The driver, a 20-year-old was taken into custody without incident. The driver was held at Rochester Police Department until they were transported to 52-3 District Court to be arraigned on Flee and Elude charges in the 4th Degree. The driver was released from 52-3 District Court with a personal bond and pending court dates.


Driver Arrested had been huffing Nitrous Oxide!

Rochester, MI - June 4, 2022 - At approximately 11:10pm, Rochester officers were dispatched to Main and University for a car accident involving a fence. Officers arrived on scene and observed a SUV that had crashed into a fence at the intersection. The involved subjects did not report any injuries.

Officers interviewed the driver, a 20-year-old from Rochester Hills, who admitted to huffing nitrous oxide. Officer conducted field sobriety evaluations and the driver was placed under arrest. The driver was transported to Rochester Police Department where a blood search warrant was obtained for a blood draw. The blood draw was conducted at the hospital. The driver was lodged at RPD until sober and will be issued a citation pending the results of the blood test. A passenger in the vehicle was also issued a citation for purchasing the nitrous oxide.


Man and Woman Die after Separate Traffic Crashes Wednesday, June 9, 2022!

Oakland County, MI - June 9, 2022 - Separate vehicle crashes within 30 minutes of each other Wednesday took the lives of two Oakland County residents. A Pontiac bicyclist died shortly after 5pm Wednesday when he rode his bicycle into the path of a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck on Myrtle Street at Cesar Chavez Avenue in Pontiac. The driver of the truck, a 25-year-old Independence Township man, attempted to avoid the bicyclist. The bicyclist, who has not yet been positively identified, was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Dodge Ram was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

The second crash happened about 5:30pm Wednesday on southbound Lapeer Road near Indianwood Road in Orion Township. Lake Orion resident Jacqueline Lois Daigneault, 75, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu south on Lapeer Road when she rear-ended a stopped 2021 Toyota Prius operated by a 65-year-old woman from Caseville, MI. After being struck by the Chevrolet, the Toyota hit a 2012 GMC Terrain that was turning left at the turn-around from northbound Lapeer Road. All the drivers were wearing seat belts. Daigneault was taken to the hospital by the Orion Township Fire Department where she died several hours later.
