Blast Off 2 School Event Provides School Supplies and Health Screenings

While everyone is excited for summer and the end of the school year, Neighborhood House is beginning to plan for the start of the 2022-23 school year and their annual Blast Off 2 School event.

Wearing new clothes and carrying a backpack filled with new school supplies helps set an exciting tone as children head off to school. Unfortunately, for many low-income families in our community, the start of the new school year is filled with stress due to economic issues.

Neighborhood House is once again collaborating with Assistance League of SE Michigan and Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital to help local children ages 4-18 start the school year ready to learn and succeed. Last year over 450 children participated in this school event.

Blast Off 2 School will be held Saturday, August 13 from 9am to 3pm, at the Neighborhood House Main Office, 1720 S. Livernois Road. School age children will receive school supplies, backpacks, school clothing and hygiene kits.

Ascension Rochester Providence Hospital will be performing Student Health Screenings and sports physicals on Wednesday, August 3, from 3pm to 7pm, also at the Neighborhood House Main Office.

Who Qualifies for these FREE Events?

The event is free for Neighborhood House clients and families who qualify for Medicaid or free and reduced lunch programs. Families must live in Auburn Hills, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland Township, Leonard or Addison Township (ID required).
