Sunny Skies Greet Thousands Attending Opening of 2022 Rochester Farmers' Market!

Opening Day at the Rochester Farmers' Market signals the true beginning of spring in the greater Rochester community!

It's a large roar beaconing friends and neighbors to get outside and enjoy the fruits of our land, the touch of farm fresh produce, and the sights and sounds of an outdoor market with a wide selection of locally sourced goods.

Over 40 vendors displayed their offerings at the corner of East Third and Water St. Customers joyfully browsed and purchased selections of baked goods, teas, barbecue, coffees, cookies, cheese, salsa, donuts, juices, fudge, honey, mushrooms, along with a variety of specialty foods, fish, and meats.

Beyond the taste-buds patrons were welcomed with the scents of fresh cut flowers, jewelry, gemstones, knife sharpening, cutting boards, live music, and children's activities.

The first 500 adult customers received a FREE Farmers' Market tote bag filled with special offers from downtown businesses and farmers' market vendors.

Ascension Providence Hospital was at the Market's entrance providing free children's bike helmets. They even provided doctors to correctly fit and size each helmet.

City of Rochester Mayor Pro Tem, Nancy Salvia, was on hand for the opening. Nancy had just purchased mint from a market vendor. She shared, "I was walking to the market this morning and met a woman who is a lifetime resident of the city of Rochester, she asked me what is going on today, why are there so many cars and people downtown. I told her about the Farmers' Market. It shows we can keep working at getting the message out about great activities in Rochester!"

Taylor Clayton, Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Marketing Coordinator shared, "The market could not have asked for a better day as the sun is shining brightly this morning. The community really showed up today. Our free tote bags are all gone and many of the vendors are already running out of their giveaways for the day. We encourage everyone to mark Saturday mornings on your calendar and get to the Downtown Rochester Farmers' Market."

The 2022 Rochester Farmers' Market runs every Saturday, 8am to 1pm, through October at the corner of East Third and Water Street in downtown Rochester.
