41st Annual Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast, Thursday, May 5, 2022

Rochester, MI - The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast Committee announced today that author/speaker Ronnie McBrayer will keynote the 41st annual event on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 7am to 9am at Oakland University Athletics Center O'Rena. Best known for his nationally syndicated column “Keeping the Faith”, McBrayer will share his thoughts on possibility and peace in a post-pandemic world. Ronnie says “Covid-19 was nothing less than an apocalypse, a revelation; not that it ended the world, but revealed so much about our inner selves. It forced us to look within … as individuals, as communities, as a whole society - and it pulled the curtain back on our motivations, our ambitions, on our very hearts - revealing the good, the bad and the ugly.”

With nearly thirty years of experience in leading faith communities, directing non-profits, and providing spiritual direction, Ronnie McBrayer wants nothing more than for people to discover “the unforced rhythms of grace” and the unconditional love of God.

Ronnie McBrayer is a certified Enneagram Teacher, a graduate of the Fanning School of the University of Georgia; and has studied Theology (M. Th) and Post Christianity (D.Min) extensively. Ronnie is the author of more than a dozen books, multiple stageplays, teaching curricula, and has contributed to hundreds of various publications. He especially connects with those who are recovering from unhealthy religion, those who are reconstructing or integrating their changing faith, and those who have more questions than answers (because Ronnie has a ton of unanswered questions too). Ronnie believes that love is the end of all things, “travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness,” and those who feel exiled from faith can find a way home, even if that home is somewhere they have never been before.

“I've been reading and enjoying his [McBrayer's] columns for years,” said Doug Tull, 2022 Prayer Breakfast chairperson. “Ronnie McBrayer discussed an old Jewish blessing in a recent podcast that just spoke to me and I knew he would make an excellent keynote speaker for our event.”

The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast is an annual, non-denominational event held in recognition of the National Day of Prayer, instituted in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and then President Harry S. Truman.

About Ronnie McBrayer

Scientists say that the beautiful, sugar-white beaches of the Florida Panhandle are the result of erosion from the Appalachian Mountains. A sand dune that we enjoy today, as we are told, was once a mountain top in Georgia, but over time that mountain washed all the way down to the sea. There's no better description for writer, Ronnie McBrayer. Before making his home near the beautiful beaches of Walton County, Florida more than a decade ago, Ronnie was a life-long Georgian, born and raised in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Today, having washed down to the sea, he is the author of multiple books and publications, a gifted musician, a local pastor, and the nationally read columnist of "Keeping the Faith." Ronnie maintains a contagious faith, a cheerful schoolboy wit, and an applauded storytelling style that invites his readers and listeners to discover new ways to experience personal freedom and grace. With his wife Cindy - a talented artist in her own right - and his three sons, Ronnie might be a long way from home, but he is never far from his roots. Visit his website at ronniemcbrayer.org.
